Plenari: certificat COVID, premi LUX, estratègia de biodiversitat
Parliament is set to vote on the proposal for a Covid certificate, a biodiversity strategy and announce the winner of the LUX award during the plenary session this week, assumptes de la UE.
MEPs are set to approve the EU’s Digital COVID certificate, which aims to facilitate free movement in Europe during the pandemic. A debate took place on Tuesday, with vote results published today (9 June).
Around noon today, Parliament President David Sassoli will announce the winner of the LUX European Audience Film Award 2021 at a ceremony in Strasbourg. Three films have been shortlisted and the winner is selected by MEPs and European citizens.
On Monday (7 June), MEPs debated the new 2030 EU Biodiversity Strategy and vote on it the day after. The resolution calls for, among other things, 30% of EU land and sea areas to be protected and underlines that urgent action is needed to stop the decline of bees and other pollinators.
After a passenger flight was forced to land in Minsk and Belarusian journalist Roman Protasevich detained, members will debate the EU’s response with the EU's foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell on Tuesday. A resolution will be put to a vote on Thursday (10 June).
Today, MEPs vote on whether the EU should ask the World Trade Organization to waive intellectual property rights for COVID-19 vaccines.
MEPs on Tuesday debated and voted on establishing the €79.5 billion Global Europe Fund, which will invest in development and international co-operation in neighbouring countries and beyond, promoting human rights and democracy.
In a debate this afternoon, MEPs will discuss how to apply the rules adopted in 2020 linking the disbursement of EU funds to member states respecting the rule of law and EU values. A resolution will be voted on the following day.
Parliament is also set to approve the new European Social Fund +, worth €88 billion, which aims to combat unemployment and child poverty and plays an important role in tackling the socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
